The Skill Development and Technical Education Department, Government of Odisha, was established in December 2011 (formerly the Employment & Technical Education & Training Department) to strengthen the State’s technical education, skill training, and employment ecosystem.

The Department is committed to expanding access, improving quality, and promoting equity in technical and vocational education across Odisha. Through a network of Skill Development/ Extension Centres, ITIs, Polytechnics, Engineering Colleges, Universities, it works to skill and prepare youth for meaningful careers in a rapidly evolving industrial and economic environment.

Skill development is a flagship priority of the Government of Odisha. The Department envisions “Skilled-in-Odisha” as a globally recognized brand and strives to create a future-ready workforce that meets national and international standards. Its mission is to enhance employability and enable transformative human development through a strong and inclusive skilling ecosystem.
